How to Buy Solana (SOL) and Move It to Your Wallet

There are two usual ways to get SOL: buy it on an exchange (card, bank transfer or balance) or buy it from another person via P2P inside an exchange. Then you withdraw it to your own wallet.

Payment methods, fees and supported countries change often. Always check the current terms on each exchange's site before depositing.

1. Pick an exchange

ExchangeNotes
BinanceLarge P2P market
BybitP2P and card purchases in many countries
OKXP2P and direct withdrawals on the Solana network
KuCoinWide token selection

All of them require identity verification (KYC) to buy and withdraw. Have your ID ready.

2. Buy SOL

With card or transfer: find Buy crypto, choose SOL, the amount and the payment method.

Via P2P: you pick a seller, pay them by bank transfer or local wallet, and the exchange releases the SOL (or USDT) once the seller confirms payment. To stay safe:

  • Pick sellers with many orders and a high completion rate.
  • Pay only within the order window and only to the account the exchange shows.
  • Never release or confirm anything off-platform or over an outside chat.
  • If a seller asks you to cancel “because they already paid outside”, it’s a scam.

Many people buy USDT via P2P and then swap it for SOL on the same exchange; the price is sometimes better.

3. Withdraw to your wallet

  1. Open your wallet (how to create one) and copy your Solana address.
  2. On the exchange go to Withdraw → SOL.
  3. Paste the address.
  4. Under Network, choose Solana (SOL). Not BEP20, ERC20 or anything else.
  5. Send a small amount first. Once it arrives (usually seconds to a few minutes), send the rest.

4. Keep a little SOL for fees

Every Solana transaction costs a fraction of a cent, but you need SOL to pay it, even if you only want to move another token like USDC. Always keep a small amount.

FAQ

My SOL hasn’t arrived? Look up your address on an explorer like Solscan. If the exchange shows the withdrawal as sent and it appears there, it’s in your wallet. If you picked another network, contact the exchange’s support from its official site.

Can I leave SOL on the exchange? You can, but the exchange holds the keys. For amounts you’re not trading, your own wallet is safer.
